Terms of Service

The rules for using Average Speed Calculator and its 19 specialized sub-calculators. Last updated: 23 May 2026.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using averagespeedcalculator.com (the "Site") and any of its 19 specialized speed calculators (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Average Speed Calculator is a browser-based platform offering free speed-distance-time calculators. The Service consists of:

  • The main Average Speed Calculator on the homepage.
  • The 19 specialized sub-calculators listed in Section 3 below.
  • Educational content (FAQs, formulas, examples, history, conversion tables) accompanying each calculator.
  • Interactive visualizations and animations illustrating speed concepts.

All calculations are performed locally in your browser. We do not collect, store or transmit the values you enter into any calculator.

3. The 19 Specialized Sub-Calculators

These Terms apply equally to the main Average Speed Calculator and to each of the following 19 specialized sub-calculators, each of which has its own purpose-built formula, interface and visualization:

  1. Bike Average Speed Calculator
  2. Average Lap Speed Calculator
  3. Average Molecular Speed Calculator
  4. Average Particle Speed Calculator
  5. Average Broadband Speed Calculator
  6. Average Data Transfer Speed Calculator
  7. Average Wind Speed Calculator
  8. Average Fluid Speed Calculator
  9. Treadmill Average Speed Calculator
  10. Walking Average Speed Calculator
  11. Hiking Average Speed Calculator
  12. Rowing Average Speed Calculator
  13. Lap Speed Calculator
  14. Boat Average Speed Calculator
  15. Average Angular Speed Calculator
  16. Average Orbital Speed Calculator
  17. RMS Average Speed Calculator
  18. Average Reading Speed Calculator
  19. Average Ball Speed Calculator

Each sub-calculator is a distinct tool within the same brand — they share these Terms but use their own formulas. New calculators may be added to this list at any time without prior notice; they will be automatically subject to these Terms.

4. Eligibility

The Service is intended for use by anyone, including students, athletes, educators, engineers, hobbyists and professionals. You are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with any local laws or regulations applicable to you. The Service is not directed at children under 13; if you are under 13 you may use the calculators only with the consent of a parent or guardian.

5. Free of Charge

All 19 specialized calculators, the main calculator, and all educational content are provided free of charge, with no account or subscription required. We reserve the right to introduce optional paid features (such as offline desktop apps or branded embeds) in the future, but the core calculators will always remain free for personal and educational use.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, copy or systematically extract calculator logic, FAQs, animations, formulas or other content for the purpose of building a competing speed-calculation product.
  • Use automated agents to issue an unreasonable number of requests, attempt to overload the Service, or otherwise interfere with its availability for other users.
  • Modify, disassemble, decompile or reverse-engineer any compiled portion of the Service.
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with Average Speed Calculator (e.g., claim our results as your own service or product).
  • Use the Service to make calculations that you then represent as official measurements or as a substitute for properly certified instruments where lives, safety or large sums of money are at stake (see Disclaimer below).
  • Inject scripts, click-bots, malware, or any other code intended to disrupt either the Service or other users.

7. Disclaimer of Accuracy

We design the calculators to be as accurate as possible — using standard physics constants (R, G, k_B, c), peer-reviewed formulas (Naismith's rule, Maxwell–Boltzmann distribution, vis-viva equation, etc.) and double-precision floating-point arithmetic.

However, the Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", with no warranty of any kind. In particular:

  • The Orbital, Molecular, Particle and RMS calculators idealise their physical scenarios (e.g. circular orbits, ideal gases). Real systems deviate from these idealisations.
  • The Hiking (Naismith's rule) calculator is a fitness-neutral estimate; your actual time may vary significantly with terrain, weather and pack weight.
  • The Broadband and Data Transfer calculators reflect averaged user-supplied readings, not certified throughput measurements.
  • The Boat, Bike, Walking, Treadmill, Rowing and Ball calculators are intended for personal benchmarking, not for use in competitions, certifications, navigation safety, racing-class records or insurance/legal purposes.

You must independently verify any result before relying on it for an important decision.

8. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site — including the visual design of each calculator, the layout, the FAQ text, the educational articles, the canvas animations, the brand name "Average Speed Calculator" and the logo — is the intellectual property of the Site's operator and is protected by copyright, trademark and other applicable laws.

You may share links to any calculator page, take screenshots for personal or non-commercial educational use, and cite results in school assignments or articles (with attribution to averagespeedcalculator.com). For commercial use, embeds, white-labelling or republishing, please contact us for written permission.

9. Third-Party Constants and Sources

The Service uses internationally accepted physical constants and reference values (NIST, CODATA, IAU, ITU, World Meteorological Organization). We make no proprietary claim over these constants, scientific formulas or units; they remain in the public scientific domain. Reasonable effort is made to keep our reference values up to date, but you should always cross-check critical figures with primary sources.

10. Privacy and Cookies

All calculations are performed locally in your browser. No input values are ever transmitted to our servers. We use minimal anonymous analytics (page-view counts, country-level aggregates) and standard advertising-network cookies as described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service you consent to that limited processing.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Site's operator and its contributors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including any of the 19 specialized calculators. Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Service is to stop using it.

12. Service Availability

We strive for 99.9 % uptime but make no guarantee of continuous availability. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, network outages, hosting issues or events beyond our control. We may add new calculators, redesign existing ones, retire seldom-used tools or modify any calculator at any time without notice.

13. External Links

The Service may contain links to external websites (such as scientific reference databases, sports federations or educational resources). These external sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

14. Modifications to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by updating this page. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Your continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable international consumer-protection norms and the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Site operator is established. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through good-faith communication shall be brought before the competent courts of that jurisdiction.

16. Contact

Questions about these Terms, requests for permission, or reports of inaccuracies in any of the 19 calculators should be sent via the Contact page. We aim to respond within 5 business days.

By continuing to use any of the 19 specialized calculators on this site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
